CN I Course

CN I fibers originate in the olfactory mucosa, then travel through the cribiform plate where they form the olfactory bulb. The olfactory bulb is located on the underside of the inferior frontal lobe. Olfactory tracts continue from the bulb as the lateral (primary olfaction), intermediate (clinically insignificant) and medial (emotional response) olfactory stria. Olfactory nuclei are located in the olfactory bulb.
