| Approximately 30 percent of Radiation Health Officers and Radiation Specialists serve in
a wide variety of billets focusing on Health Physics. These billets include responsibilities for managing programs in
nondestructive testing (x-ray and gamma radiography); nuclear weapons; nuclear propulsion; radiological waste; personnel and
environmental dosimetry; and associated occupational health, radiation health, and industrial safety programs. Our officers
perform these duties at shore-based commands (shipyards, intermediate maintenance activities, senior-level commands), aboard
submarine tenders (forward-deployed support ships), and aboard nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. The links in the left margin
give more information on health physics. |
